Most R&D teams can't trust their own equipment data.
Ask five people where an instrument lives, what it's called, and who services it, and you'll often get five answers. Equipment records pile up across spreadsheets, service tools, and site inventories, each with its own names, categories, and gaps.
Clean, consistent data is the thing every AI and reporting project depends on. Lab asset data is rarely either, so the models stall and the dashboards stay empty. You can't consolidate what you can't reconcile.
The same mess shows up as hours lost reconciling inventories, kit bought twice because nobody could find the first one, and finance asking whether an asset still exists. A booking is only as good as the record behind it.
The same list, cleaned up.
Here is what normalization does to a handful of typical records. Your original values stay in place. newLab® adds standardized names, manufacturers, categories, a short description, and a confidence score you can check.
| Source asset name | Source manufacturer | Normalized name | Normalized manufacturer | Category | Match | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| akta pure 25 | cytiva / ge health | ÄKTA pure™ 25 M | Cytiva | Chromatography | Matched | 0.98 |

How the test works.
Three steps. You send a sample, newLab® does the work, you get your results back to keep.
Send your sample
Export 100 to 500 equipment records from your current inventory, in whatever columns you already have. Aim for at least 50 different manufacturer and model combinations so the test sees real variety.
newLab® normalizes it
newLab® standardizes asset names, manufacturers, and categories, fills in short descriptions, and scores every record for confidence. An honestly unmatched record is flagged for review, never guessed.
You get your file and report
A cleaned copy of your list sits beside the original, plus a short assessment of what's off and what it would take to clean your full inventory.
What you get back
A cleaned file, a clear report, and a call to talk it through.
-
Your normalized inventory
An Excel file with your source data preserved and standardized values beside it: asset name, manufacturer, model, category, short description, match status, and a confidence score for every record.
-
A two-page assessment
What share of your records matched, where naming falls apart, how many duplicates you're carrying, and 5 to 10 before-and-after examples pulled from your own data.
-
A 30-minute review
Walk through the results with our team and see what cleaning your full inventory would involve. No obligation.
Why newLab®
The lab platform behind the test, built on ServiceNow.
newLab® is the lab resource and service management platform built natively on ServiceNow. It tracks equipment, ties scheduling to maintenance, and turns scattered asset data into something your systems can use. It picks up where LIMS and ELN stop. This test is a sample of that work, run on your data.
Your data, handled carefully.
You're sending a sample of your inventory, so here is exactly what we ask for and what happens to it.
Only equipment records
Send asset IDs, names, manufacturers, models, and categories. Leave out anything personal, financial, or tied to a sensitive location.
Deleted after your assessment
We keep your file only long enough to produce your results, then delete it from our systems.
Never used to train models
We use your file to run your assessment. We don't use it to train models.
Yours alone
We don't share your data or sell it. If we ever want to reference anonymized results, we ask you first.
Is it really free?
Yes. No cost and no obligation. We run it to show what newLab® does on real lab data, and to start a useful conversation with teams who have a data problem worth solving.
What file formats and how many records?
An .xlsx or .csv file with 100 to 500 equipment records, up to 25 MB. A spread of at least 50 manufacturer and model combinations gives the clearest read.
My data is a mess. Is that a problem?
No, that is the point. Inconsistent names, missing fields, and duplicates are exactly what the assessment measures. Send the export as it is.
Is this the same as cleaning my whole inventory?
No. This is a sample of 100 to 500 records so you can see the quality and the method. The 30-minute review covers what full-inventory cleanup would involve.
Who is this for?
Life sciences R&D teams in pharma, biotech, cosmetics, and university or public research. If you manage lab equipment across sites, it fits.
